Abstract:
The article refers to a study involving 280 healthcare managers. It proposes an analysis of work motivation and job satisfaction, and the relationships between these concepts. The findings confirm self-determination and cognitive evaluation theories, and identify the positive and negative drivers of motivation and amotivation, as well as their link to satisfaction. Key insights emerge, particularly regarding recognition: organizational factors (resources, hierarchy, sense, stress, support, recognition) tend to lead to lower ratings for both motivation and satisfaction ; recognition plays an ambiguous role, acting as a source of motivation when linked to satisfying elements, yet reflecting lower satisfaction when associated with a lack of purpose and resources ; and recognition carries a dual connotation : positive when a healthcare manager is recognized by their team and negative regarding support from hierarchy.
