Abstract:
This research was designed to test the feasibility of creating sovereign debt profiles for African countries. In particular, it aimed to identify the relative importance and role of three key lenders: the World Bank, China, and other bond holders. The main conclusion is clear: beyond the major trends, what emerges from the data we have gathered is that each African country has its own financial personality. This precludes a quick categorisation such as those put forward by propaganda on all sides.
