National Lottery Participation and Expenditure: the first five years

Abstract: This paper uses data from the Family Expenditure Survey to analyse household participation in, and expenditure on, the National Lottery for the period 1995/6 to 1999/2000. During this time our results indicate that participation has fallen, nominal expenditure on the on-line games by participants has risen, whilst clear differences may be found between households classified according to occupational social class
