Abstract: "Once one has received basic income support for needy job-seekers, the likelihood of exiting this dependency is fairly small. There are many different pathways out of unemployment assistance, although a transition into a gainful employment is the most important one. About one third of the persons who have managed to exit recipiency and take up work did so into an open-ended fulltime job. However the wages of former benefit recipients are relatively low: roughly every second person does not earn more than 7.50 Euro (pre-tax)." (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku) ((en))
