Abstract: "Small and medium-sized employers account for most of the vacancies, and as a consequence, for a large part of all recruitments in Germany. A total of 3.65 million recruitments into employment subject to social security contributions occurred in the year 2016, 44 per cent of which took place in small establishments with fewer than 50 employees. The potential for Germany's economic growth thus depends to a substantial degree on the ability of these employers to meet their personnel requirements. This policy report details differences in the search strategies between and the resulting chances of successful recruitments for small, medium-sized and large establishments."
