Abstract: This report estimates a living wage for Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic, and in particular the areas around Free Trade Zones using the Anker Methodology. This living wage is estimated based on an analysis of primary data on food prices, housing costs, health care costs and education costs in Santo Domingo collected in November 2021 together with an analysis of secondary survey data on household expenditures, labor market conditions, and family size for the Dominican Republic. The gross living wage (aka living wage) for Greater Santo Domingo is Dominican Republic pesos (RD$) 33,275 (US$ 589) per month for November 2021. The living wage updated by inflation to mid-2022 is RD$ 35,177, with RD$ 2,079 in social security contributions.
