Abstract:
This paper discusses the negotiations toward a Free Trade Area of the Americas (ALCA/FTAA), principally from a United States viewpoint. The paper attempts to highlight possible sticking points in the negotiations. It also provides an overview of US international trade negotiating priorities, to clarify the US position vis-à-vis the ALCA/FTAA.
