The Financial System of the Czech Republic

Abstract: A survey of the current situation in the financial system of the Czech Republic is given on a relevant historical background. Special attention is drawn to the transformation of the banking sector during the economic reforms of 1990-1996. The situation on the capital market is discussed in connection to the emerging pattern of corporate governance, in which banks and investment funds tightly control the operations of the industrial enterprises in the Czech Republic.
