Abstract: Given the increasing frequency of natural disasters and growing concerns about damages related to global warming, it is essential that at the time of natural disasters, there must be timely and efficient relief efforts to help the affected people. The current paper looks at how volunteers form human networks with known and unknown people at time of crisis using network analysis. Data was collected during the floods in Tamil Nadu, India in 2015. One of the key findings indicate that people networked with like-minded individuals in terms of resilience, social responsibility, self-monitoring and prosocial behavior at the time of crisis.
