Abstract: This paper highlights the confusions surrounding prevailing conceptualizations of entrepreneur/entrepreneurship that have limited our understanding and predictability of the phenomenon. An alternative conceptualisation viewed as Entrepreneurial Resourcefulness that integrates cognitive as well as motivational aspects and focuses on entrepreneurial behaviour is proposed. The model is deemed proximal rather than distal in nature.
