Abstract:
The study was done in three reconnaissance, actual field interviews and additional follow-up interviews with registered and non-registered subcontractors. The last phase included occular visits and unstructured interviews with homebased subcontractors. The objective of the study is to understand the nature and extent of child labour in the rattan and wood industry in the province of Cebu. The study addresses the following concerns to gather information on the history and growth trends of the rattan and wood industry furniture manufacturers; and identify child workers in rattan and wood furniture manufacturing establishments and gather information on their family background working conditions and education.
