No 2026/258, IMF Staff Country Reports from International Monetary Fund
Abstract:
El Salvador’s economic performance has continued to exceed expectations, supported by sustained improvements in security and rising investor confidence. The fiscal position strengthened further, with a sizable primary surplus in 2025. International reserves have continued to increase supported by strong external inflows, while sovereign spreads have declined to their lowest level since 2011. The Bukele administration remains committed to deepening macroeconomic stability and reforms to sustain higher growth. Presidential, congressional and municipal elections are slated for February 2027.
