Abstract: This technical note provides practical guidance to support countries in developing a tailored plan to implement the 2025 System of National Accounts (SNA) and the Balance of Payments and International Investment Position Manual, seventh edition (BPM7). Implementing these updated international statistical standards is a complex, multi‑year undertaking that requires careful prioritization, strong institutional coordination, and sustained engagement with users and stakeholders. The note presents a structured planning framework to help national statistical systems define the scope of implementation, assess alignment with existing standards, identify resource and infrastructure requirements, and sequence implementation activities in a realistic and transparent manner. It emphasizes the importance of early and continuous stakeholder engagement, sound governance arrangements, and effective communication strategies to manage revisions and build trust in official statistics. Rather than prescribing a one‑size‑fits‑all approach, the note encourages countries to tailor implementation plans to national circumstances, policy priorities, and capacity constraints. By viewing implementation as a strategic opportunity to strengthen statistical systems, modernize processes, and enhance data quality and relevance, the guidance aims to support the successful and sustainable adoption of the 2025 SNA and BPM7.
