Abstract:
The Brazilian trade pattern is marked, on one hand, by exports with strong presenceof commodities, labour and natural resources intensive goods. On the other hand,Brazilian importation is intensive in products of high and medium technologicalintensity. Taking on account the great share of transnational companies in theproductive structure of the country, the objective of this article is to evaluate theeventual contribution of these companies for the diversification of the Brazilianexports in products of higher technological intensity. The results show, among othersthings, a greater specialization of the foreign companies in Brazil in products ofmedium technological intensity.
