Abstract: This GHES working paper gathers statistical data on physical indicators of manufacturing production in Portugal. These data were not included in the volumes of Portuguese Historical Statistics published by the Instituto Nacional de Estatistica because of their extension. It has the same purpose of those volumes: to increase the availability of more sistematic information on this topic to those interested in the study of the economic history of Portugal in a long run perspective. Basic information on the available statistical data and bibliography concerning manufacturing may be found in section D of chapter 5 of the above mentioned volumes. This section was edited by professor Manuel Lisboa of the Faculdade de Ciencias Sociais e Humanas of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa.
