Abstract:
Armando Castro was the member of the first generation of the intelectuals of the marxist field who devoted most of its intelectual habilities to the development of the economic culture. He was interdicted of becoming Professor at the university during the Estado Novo but after 1940s he would produce a vast and original economic work on pure economics, applied economics and economic doctrine. His main subjects were the critic of the neoclassical economics, the theory of economic systems, the agrarian question and the modernization of the Portuguese economy.
