Abstract: This text presents a synthesis of existing data on the gross domestic product of Portugal, including new estimates for the period 1865-1952 and a few previous isolated years (Table 1.5.0.1). These estimates were computed using a macroeconomic-based methodological approach. This synthesis is compared with the previously existing figures that have been most commonly used. It will be completed in due time by attempts to break down the figures according to the expenditure flow and the sector value added flow, a procedure that may lead to further revisions.
