Abstract:
•Labor-is one* of-the important inputs in agricultural production. :How it is measured and- valued is.'important for establishing the marginal cost .of agricultural . commodities and .labor's- share of the cost of production. Historically in agricultural commodity cost?return methods,' labor and management have been treated as distinct, unrelated, or disconnected inputs. A variety of reasons undoubtedly exist for this separation. .The^perspective that leads to a separation of;labor and management, however,•as hot in tune.-.with-advances'-over the. past two .decades in the-modern concept of labor from.labor.economics or with econometric studies of. off-farm labor ^supply of farm household ..members and agricultural production.
