Hog Contracts

Abstract:
The objective of this case study is to introduce hog marketing and production contracts by paying particular attention to the payment systems included in these contracts. To facilitate learning of hog contracts, the case study provides the hog/pork industry background by discussing the hog production system, hog production and price cycle, and industry structure and organization.
