No 2010D01, Working Papers from Orkestra - Basque Institute of Competitiveness

Abstract: Progress is a result of managing the inherent contradiction of every evolutionary process.Paradoxes exist in organizations and people and they happen in a daily basis. Paradoxes live in innovation processes and serve as a stimulus to make us question the context incorporating other perspectives. Additionally, in today’s crisis environment, this reality becomes more important than ever. Innovation could be reinforced during crisis contexts, but it could also be devoured, as Saturn devoured his sons. This paradox should be a means to activate innovation rather than deactivate it.
