Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to analize the avdentagesand disadventages of fiscal policy coordination against othernon cooperative solutions in a monetary and economic union. Asimple macroeconomic model of two countries in line with thestandard models within the literature is used. The objectivefunctions of national policymakers are given, to compare thedifferent results, cooperative and non cooperative, that canbe obtained when every country adopts its fiscal policy inresponse to symmetric and asymetric shocks. El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar las ventajas einconvenientes de la coordinación de políticas fiscalesfrente a otras alternativas no cooperativas en el marco deuna unión econbmica y monetaria. Para ello se diseña unsencillo modelo macroeconómico de dos países en línea con losmodelos estdndar dentro de esta literatura y, dadas lasfunciones objetivo de las respectivas autoridades nacionales,se utiliza para establecer y comparar los distintosresultados, cooperativos y no cooperativos, que puedenproducirse al adoptar cada pals medidas de política fiscal enrespuesta a diferentes shocks, tanto de carácter simétricocomo asimétrico.
