Abstract:
The paper analyses Chinese OFDI to Europe by presenting its main trends, patterns and motivations with a special focus on the impact of these investments on the EU and Central and Eastern European region, respectively. In order to assess the role and importance of OFDI from China towards Europe, the authors evaluate it within a global context. The authors will conclude their investigation by arguing that although the majority of Chinese investments are directed to the developing world, European countries are at the forefront of Chinese OFDI to developed countries, complemented by a growing trend of Chinese OFDI to the Central Eastern European region in the post-crisis period.
