Abstract:
The paper tries to analyze two districts of Saurashtra from the point of equity and economic feasibility of groundwater abstraction and use. Using various simulation and economic analyses tools, the paper concludes that there is equity of access and consequently access of irrigation. For different pricing and discount rates, the BC ratio and IRR are positive. Thus groundwater withdrawal for irrigation seems feasible. However, if the electricity subsidy to the agriculture is removed, the investments are not feasible.Length: pp.378-390
