The true cost of the two per thousand taxes on banking transactions in Colombia

Abstract: We apply a simple version of the Baumol Tobin model of Money Demand to determine the costs incurred by agents due to the existence of a proportional tax on the value of banking transactions in Colombia, and the incentives to use less and less the legal financial system.
