Características del plantel y calidad de la educación en Bogotá

Abstract:
This paper studies the effects of school attributes on test scores in the city of Bogotá. The paper shows, first, that both teacher-pupil ratios and teacher education are positively correlated with higher test scores, and, next, that these associations are circumscribed to private schools. In public schools, neither teacher-pupil ratios nor teacher education are associated with higher test scores. Taken together, these results suggest that the effect of school attributes upon test scores (and education quality, in general) is mediated through the incentive structure that regulate the interactions among students, parents, school administrators, and teachers.
