Regulation of electricity transmission sector in Colombia

Abstract: This article presents an analysis of the components of the regulation and performance of the sector of Colombian transmission of electricity in the 1994-2002 and implemented scheme of bidding for the expansion. The main characteristics of the organization of the electrical industry and the remarkable behavior of the sector stand out, that through main agent, Interconexión Electrica S.A.-ISA-, that has had important participation in its planning and expansion, coordinates and manages this industry. Finally, recommendations as far as the necessity become to provide additional incentives to the agents and to improve the regulation of the capital income.
