Légitimité de la sociologie économique dans l’analyse des modes de commercialisation du bois Le cas des adjudications dans les forêts publiques

No 2006-03, Working Papers - Cahiers du LEF from Laboratoire d'Economie Forestiere, AgroParisTech-INRA

Abstract: Describing economic phenomena remains complicated because market exchanges are attached to a specific social context. Therefore, it seems relevant to apply an interdisciplinary strategy in order to explain the observed reality. The approaches supplied by New Institutional Economics, Socio-Economy and Economic Sociology partake of this desire to consider economic action is first of all a social action. Concerning auctions in timber sales of public forests, the article suggests an analysis that doesn’t aim at considering timber market as an abstract entity, but rather as a socially rooted institution. So our objective is to discover the social conditions which guarantee the existence and persistence of auctions, focusing on the social representations shared by the actors of that trade.
