Abstract: Der Abbau der Schwankungsreserve war in jüngster Zeit wieder einmal Gegenstand der politischen Diskussionen zur Stabilisierung des Rentenversicherungsbeitragssatzes. Im folgenden wird die Funktion der Schwankungsreserve näher untersucht und berechnet, in welchem Umfang sie vorgehalten werden sollte.
