Abstract: Dieses Papier skizziert grundsätzliche Überlegungen, wie die euphemistisch so genannten „Effizienzreserven“ des deutschen Gesundheitswesens erschlossen werden können. Eine zentrale Rolle spielt dabei die nachfrageseitige Wettbewerbsordnung auf dem System von Märkten, das die ökonomische Grundlage des Gesundheitswesens bildet.
