New Technologies and Changes in Work Organization: A Survey

Abstract: Recently, relative demand for multi-skilled labor has increased sharply. Information and education became the most important factor when determining the role of labor at work. Especially, the intense rise of microelectronic Technologies changed the structure of production after 1970s. By the effect of changing structure of production and growing competition brought a new organization of work. The main aim of this study is summarize the literature on the transformation of production systems and the impact of flexible production systems and automation technologies on employment and labor. This paper also analyzes the impact of new technologies on composition of employment, unemployment and labor organizations. Technological changes will not be considered as an external force, the human aspect of technology in work organization will also be analyzed. Besides the theoretical expansion of new technologies in production process, the changes in the role of state and economic policies will be discussed.
