Rationing Medical Care: An Economist's Perspective

Abstract: In this essay, I identify some issues that arise in trying to bring the kind of economics I normally practice to this subject. I proceed by examining the parallels and differences between allocating medical care and several other allocation prob lems, starting with the distribution of income generally and then in the more specific context of retirement income.
