Abstract: Beach sand is a key resource for tourism and recreation, showing the complexity of coastal areas, characterized by the convergence of different uses, activities and coastal actors involved. For several decades, the problem of this resource on the beaches of Mar del Plata has been exacerbated, either by natural processes such as coastal erosion, the gradual increase in sea level and extreme meteorological phenomena such as southeast or induced by anthropic action. in the case of the movements of sand and the waterproofing of the surface by the beach concessionaires, the legal and illegal extraction of the resource, the obstruction of the drift current by the infrastructure of the port of Mar del Plata, among others. This work aims to analyze the situation from a socio- ecosystemic perspective using the DAPSI (W) R method to verify its impact on human well-being and the ecosystem services of beaches that are affected by this problem. Finally, propose some guidelines to mitigate / solve the problem for an adequate integrated coastal management. The results can become a valuable input for public and private decision-makers and society.
