Abstract:
As a result of the profound changes in purchasing patterns driven by younger generations who are more conscious and responsible for what is produced and consumed, together with the health crises that brought food safety to the center of the debate, the demands on production models have evolved towards more sustainable and circular schemes. In this context, the fishing industry finds in the circular economy (CE) paradigm a strategic vehicle for the generation of value, with a remarkable potential in the reuse of waste, diversification of by-products and generation of renewable energy from organic waste.
