Abstract:
This paper summarizes the content of the EC’s internal market programme and progress made in its implementation. It analyses the mechanisms which should lead to welfare gains, and reviews a wide variety of micro- and macroeconomic indicators in order to ascertain whether integration has proceeded since the mid-1980s. Policy issues, which are more or less closely linked to the success of the internal market, are also addressed here ... Cet article résume le contenu du programme du marché unique de la CE ainsi que les progrès accomplis dans sa mise en oeuvre. Il analyse les mécanismes qui devraient conduire à des gains de bien-être, et essaye de juger si l’intégration s’est poursuivie depuis le milieu des années 1980 à l’aide d’ un grand nombre d’indicateurs micro- et macroéconomiques. Il discute aussi les grands dossiers de politique économique, qui sont plus ou moins liés au succès du marché intérieur.
