Access to justice and the economic implications of crime and violence in Thailand

Oecd

No 86, OECD Working Papers on Public Governance from OECD Publishing

Abstract: This paper provides a foundation for understanding the social and economic implications of crime in Thailand, including gender-based and sexual violence, as well as the criminal justice system’s response. It analyses the economic cost of these issues by drawing on available data and, where feasible, provides indicative cost estimates. The paper presents an overview of the methodological approach and results, including detailed cost estimates and evaluation methods for each category of costs. Finally, it offers policy-relevant findings and identifies knowledge gaps and avenues for further research.
