Avoid glib terms of development status

Khaled Moustafa

No 7wcg5, arabixiv.org from Center for Open Science

Abstract: The description of countries as ‘developing’ or ‘developed’ should be used with caution — or not at all — in the scientific literature. These categorizations are largely subjective, as shown by their controversial and inconsistent usage among global organizations. Such agencies have had to deal with substantial geopolitical and cultural shifts since the early (questionable) division of the ‘First’ and ‘Third’ worlds.
