Abstract: The purposes of this study are to determine the role of agro-industry and agriculture sector role and also to identify the source of East Java economic growth using structural decomposition analysis. The results show that agriculture sector improved in the period of 2006-2010 after declined output in the period of 2000-2006 due to negative effect of its input structure (technology-effect) to output. Agro-industrial sectors, especially food and beverage industry gaining significant output growth in the second period as final consumption raised in product variety to this sector (mix-effect), although, tobacco sector declined in its output in the second period, due to decreased final consumption to this sector. Based on final demand categories, East Java able to grow in the first period mostly from the raised of export among provinces, while in the second period, this growth mostly based on household consumption.
