Innovative ideas need these ‘scouts’

Abstract: Author Kaiser reports on Science News (doi: 10.1126/science.adc9614) that MIT has set up a new plan for moving truly innovative research ideas forward with a new kind of high-risk funding. Whether the idea will finally become a success story will remain to be seen. Still, the Hypothesis Fund--as the name may suggest--already represents the genuine attempt to make itself a scout in science funding.
