Abstract: Society is a group of individuals who are always active and interact continuously, so that society becomes a dynamic group. One of the dynamics of society can be seen from the changes that always occur continuously in the dimensions of space and time. In general, changes can occur in social values, social structures, norms, social organization, patterns of behavior in social organizations, division of authority and power, social stratification, and social interactions in society.Materialism is defined as a philosophical school that assumes that it exists or is only real matter. Basically everything is composed of matter and all phenomena are the result of material interaction. It is undeniable that the understanding of materialism has a major contribution to the development of science in today's society. The dynamics of society that cause change, make society always move in the trajectory of changes. In the sociological paradigm, changes that occur in society become a realm of social change if these changes involve changes in structure. Thus not all changes that occur in society can be included in the category of social change. Major changes concerning economic, political and social life have led to major social changes in human history.
