Artificial Intelligence Innovations and Election Administration in Nigeria

Abstract: There is an urgent need for Nigeria to continue leading the way in the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology for governing their election processes in the midst of current reforms in election administration. This paper explores the contribution that can be made by the application of new advances in AI technology towards the process of election administration in Nigeria. It looks into the present status of election administration in Nigeria, the current literature of AI application in election administration, and possible fields of application of AI in election administration. Data on the possible uses of AI advances in election administration was gathered through a survey of 396 Nigerian voters, stakeholders, and election managers. The results shed light on the advantages and difficulties of implementing AI breakthroughs in Nigerian election administration, especially in the area of fraud prevention and enhancing the integrity of the electoral process in Nigeria. According to the study, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) should employ AI to lessen and finally eradicate electoral fraud and corruption.
