Letter to the Editors: Some thoughts on Carl Menger’s Lectures to Crown Prince Rudolf

Eve Menger

No 5jrmv_v1, SocArXiv from Center for Open Science

Abstract: Notes written by Crown Prince Rudolf on a series of lectures in economics given by Carl Menger were discovered in the Austrian archives. The Streisslers transcribed the notes and translated them into English. Their book on this work includes a lengthy introduction inferring Menger’s beliefs from the class notes. This Letter to the Editor complements that work with Menger family documents and lore and also questions some of the Streisslers’ speculations about Menger’s perspectives.
