Abstract:
This paper studies stochastic choice when both availability and presentation order may vary across choice problems. We characterize a fixed-list sequential attention model for menu choice and a sequential attention model with a common continuation profile for list choice. In the list domain, we further show that, holding preferences fixed, more persistent attention shifts choice probability toward more preferred alternatives.
