Abstract:
Patient-reported experience can identify problems in integrated care, yet feedback alone does not show whether organisations address them. This Perspective argues that experience data can inform internal audit evidence and person-centred healthcare governance when their quality, context and interpretive limits are examined. Developed within the author's doctoral research programme, the argument draws on a purposively selected set of scientific publications and official documents; it does not report a literature review or analyse the programme's empirical datasets. The conceptual method compares the purposes and units of patient-experience measurement, SCIROCCO integration maturity assessment, value-based healthcare implementation assessment and professional internal audit. An illustrative crosswalk then connects five coordination and participation concerns with contextual domains, candidate audit questions, corroborating information and management follow-up. The proposed cycle moves from patient-defined priorities through evidence evaluation to accountable action and repeated assessment of experience. It preserves management ownership of controls and distinguishes a reported concern from a demonstrated organisational failure. Neither the crosswalk nor the combined framework has been empirically validated. Patient involvement, feasibility assessment and comparative evaluation are needed to establish usefulness, burden and effects. The contribution is a testable governance proposition, not evidence of improved clinical outcomes or economic value. Keywords: patient-reported experience data, internal audit, audit evidence, integrated care, SCIROCCO maturity model, healthcare governance, person-centred care
