Working Papers from University of Ottawa, Department of Economics
Abstract:
Using data from Statistics Canada and Human Resources Development Canada the paper describes the provincial trends in university student migration, tuition fees and accomodation costs over the period 1972-73 to 1996-97. A multinomial logit model was estimated to determine the importance of financial costs of attending university, availability of scolarships, unemployment, past migration patterns, distance between provinces, and climate on student migration rates between provinces.
