Abstract:
Using the Bradford´s (2003) price method, this paper estimates the nominal external (for Peruvian export products) and internal (for Peruvian goods which compete with imports) degree of protection of the non-tariff trade barriers for a set of 20 tariffs lines of agricultural a fishing products of Peru in the period 2000-2008. Despite of the low tariff rates for export and imports products of Peru and due to the increase of the non-tariff barriers (in developed countries in particular), the estimations suggest that the degree of external and internal protection is relatively high and the former higher than the latter.
