Abstract:
The objective of the study was to (i) study the nexus between Structural Adjustment Programmes (SAPs) and the growth of export-oriented shrimp culture in Bangladesh; (ii) analyse the environmental implications of shrimp culture; (iii) quantify and evaluate the environmental impacts; and (iv) put forward an actionable policy agenda to stimulate and promote an environmentally sustainable shrimp culture in Bangladesh.
