Child Labour In Bangladesh: A Forward Looking Policy Study

Sumaiya Khair

No 1, CPD Report from Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD)

Abstract: The present study is a review exercise which focuses on selected issues pertaining to child labour in Bangladesh in an attempt to take stock of the current state of knowledge as to what exists, what does not, what we know and what we need to know, what works and what does not, in order to effectively address and assess the relationship between the work of children and their development. Accordingly, based on the available literature and several multi-stakeholder dialogues, the paper explores conceptual issues, legal measures, state policies and programmes, and linkages between child labour, economic conditions and education.
