Abstract: To understand the saving characteristics of households before appropriate polices can be formulated, this study examines the saving behavior of Filipino rural households using 1987 data in selected Philippine rural provinces. It verifies the capacity of rural households to save and determines the factors that influence saving behavior. It also examines the forms in which savings are held and identifies the factors that influence financial savings.
