Un sistema de atención a la dependencia para Chile. Apuntes desde la experiencia española

A long-term care system for Chile. Lessons from the experience of Spain

Mauricio Matus-Lopez ()

MPRA Paper from University Library of Munich, Germany

Abstract: It has been more than a decade since Spain passed its first dependency law. In this period, its strengths and weaknesses have been analyzed. The objective of this article is to analyze the economic aspects of the Spanish public system and to obtain lessons for the Chilean case. To this end, a review of the scientific literature was carried out and the evolution of its main variables was analyzed. The results show that, due to population aging, among other variables, Chile has similar pressures that Spain had in the past. Also, the evidence points to re-evaluate the current design of the reform under discussion in Chile.
