Commuting and self-employment in Netherlands

Elena Calvo

MPRA Paper from University Library of Munich, Germany

Abstract: This paper tries to analyze the commuting time in Netherlands. Concretely, it aspires to quantify the effect of being self-employed, the gender and the area of residence in commuting time. In order to do this analysis, we have taken data from the European Labor Survey (2015) what allows us to analyze big datasets with advanced informatic and statistical techniques. It is found that there is a negative relationship between commuting time and being self-employed. With this, we have achieved some representative results for Netherlands’ society which attempt to guide actions for improving its mobility as well as its well-being.
